The Work of Our Space Grant Recipients

We are pleased to announce our four Space Grant recipients, artists Lu Hanna, Rene Westbrook, Rowan Green, and Mo Alta.

Grantee Lu Hanna is an Olympia, Washington-based multimedia artist with a portfolio that spans photography, painting, sculpture, and installation. Lu’s work takes a discerning view of accessibility & identity among the social, political, and cultural issues of our time. Lu shared words about their current project with us: "As I continue to create more of my Polyphonic Art assemblages, I'd like to add fungi to my Olympia/PNW triad. I’ve been researching a project that keeps me in the forest quite a bit these days. In taking more of an interest in my process, my study has been focusing on the remarkable mycelium and the infinite possibilities that they can create for the future.” Learn more about Lu Hanna’s work at: https://www.luhanna.com/

Grantee Rene Westbrook is a Lacey, Washington based multi-media artist, whose work explores collage on paper. As an evolving artist who is steeped in social justice and cultural dynamics, much of Rene’s creative pursuits into these issues is current and relevant. In an interview with WSU, Rene shared “I find we are vital members in the ongoing struggle that gives voice and guidance to our fellow citizens.”
