Kris Tucker has stepped down as the Chair of OAA and will continue to serve as an active member of the OAA Board. The Olympia arts community is incredibly lucky to have Kris’s strong leadership, commitment, and vision.

She is an invaluable colleague who significantly furthered the OAA mission: “To preserve, develop and advocate for affordable live, work and exhibition space for artists in Olympia, Washington.”

Kris is a Founding Member of OAA, reminding us all that this year marks our 10th anniversary! Ten years ago a small group of artists, philanthropists, and arts activists created a nonprofit organization to support spaces for Olympia artists to live and work.  Kris was, and is, an essential leader of that effort.

She contributes unique experience with arts advocacy at the Washington Legislature and national arts organizations, administrative leadership as the previous Executive Director of the Washington State Arts Commission, and local activism as a long-time member of the South Capitol Neighborhood Association in Olympia.

Kris sets an inspiring example for arts activism in our community.  Michelle Pope now takes over as Chair with momentum, high standards, and Kris’s continued support.  This transition is yet another good start to 2021!
