Lu Hanna
Statement:
TITLE: “Lite Generations”
When I first learned about film photography, it felt like the only thing in the world. Then I discovered the darkroom and the magic continued. Film studies didn’t disappoint, and that solitary process of photography expanded with the magic. My art studies brought the color, but chromophobia already had a hold on me. But then came Frida, and Stanley Kubrick, and Akira Kurosawa, and Peter Greenaway, and David Lynch, and Wes Anderson…and then (as they say), the rest is history.
The title of this project refers to color theory, the mid-century architecture of this and many buildings in Olympia, and the music of Olympia, past and present. This design addresses the perspective of near and far with the colorful mid-century modern geometric shapes seen at a distance, while a closer perspective reveals images and illusions using color theory.
