Hummingbird Studio Open House

Kokua is excited to announce the opening of hummingbird studio, an inclusive community art studio for individuals of all abilities. We are renting studio space from our new partners at the Arbutus Folk School (www.arbutusfolkschool.org). They are located in the heart of downtown Olympia at 610 4th Ave. E. directly across from Olympia City Hall. There are two large art studios with a utility sink, an accessible bathroom, storage and a large alley in the back with a big sliding barn door for easy Dial-a-Lift and wheelchair access. There are three loading zone parking spots in front for drop off and pick up, and they are located .4 miles from the downtown transit center.

Beginning on September 23, Amy Briggs, our in-house artist, will facilitate open studio time on Wednesdays from 11:30am-1pm. Participants can attend any portion of that time. Our primary objective is to offer meaningful and creative opportunities for individuals to explore, have fun and build community connections. Open studio is free, however pre-registration is required. Please contact me at randi@kokuaservices.com or (360)705-4665 ext. 120 to register for each weekly session. We are requesting a nominal supply donation ($3-5 per session) for those who can afford it. We will have volunteers on hand to assist participants with their art, however, individuals who need assistance with mobility or personal care will be required to bring along someone to support them. Participants and volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

To introduce the community to hummingbird studio, Kokua is hosting an
